Case study
A leading US gas distribution company
Reducing litigation risk through development of a data warehouse
During routine upgrades to its gas delivery network, contractors working for one of the largest US gas distribution companies accidentally spilled mercury (used in old gas regulators) in a number of properties. Upon discovering the error, the company rapidly initiated a screening and clean-up program to eradicate contamination. Initially, tactical IT systems supported the clean-up operation, but a more strategic solution was necessary to analyze data when defending the gas company against toxic tort damages, and to facilitate cost recovery from contractors and insurance.
