Product strategy for a European automotive equipment manufacturer
This client had successfully entered the in-car telematics market with a high performance navigation system. However its attempts to repeat this success with additional products in the high volume marketplace were failing.
The client wanted to understand why this was happening and to devise a development and commercialization strategy that would reverse the trend. The PA team:
- Carried out a review of in-car applications including route guidance, traffic data, emergency call-out and automatic vehicle location detection
- Analyzed the future market requirements and potential technologies through a combination of market surveys and technology road mapping
- Developed a product architecture proposal and business case for a telematic product appropriate for the high-volume-end of the European car market.
Based on PA's recommendations the client has developed a new telematic product that has been successful in both the after-market and OEM marketplaces.
