Lufthansa Systems - Lowering costs and increasing flexibility through offshore outsourcing

With around 4,400 employees, and offices worldwide, the company is one of the leading aviation IT providers. As a system integrator for the airline and aviation market, Lufthansa Systems covers the entire spectrum of IT services, including consulting, application development and implementation, and reliable operation.

PA Consulting Group supported Lufthansa Systems from strategy to completion in outsourcing the lower-end aspects of its IT, to reduce costs and increase flexibility. PA supported Lufthansa Systems in designing the onshore program to avoid the pitfalls unique in ‘offshoring’, and focused on defining the desired outcome clearly. The onshore activities were managed rigorously to keep the program on track.
