Department for Constitutional Affairs
Driving performance improvement in the collection of criminal fines
PA has helped the Department for Constitutional Affairs (DCA) to improve the collection of criminal fines, equating to an additional £13 million of fines collected. Increasing the fine collection rate - to a national target of 75% - was a key government objective for the Criminal Justice System. PA worked closely with the DCA and Magistrates’ Courts Committees to increase the payment rate for criminal fines in England and Wales from 69% to 76% in 2003-04. PA has also helped to maintain and improve performance beyond this level during 2004-05.
