Case study
BankWest (Australia)
Developing and implementing a strategy for effective IT outsourcing
The Bank of Western Australia (BankWest) is a full-service retail bank that is seeking to expand throughout the country. BankWest was approached by a major IT outsourcing vendor, who suggested that a unique set of circumstances offered potential for significant mutual benefit. The vendor had recently secured a contract with a major local government body, and claimed that by integrating their client’s IT and telecommunications infrastructure with that of BankWest, significant cost savings could result for both parties.
PA Consulting Group was commissioned to support the bank’s project, examine the vendor’s claims and help evaluate the case for outsourcing. With PA’s assistance, BankWest developed a strategy to improve agility in the market place by selectively outsourcing its IT infrastructure.
