Case study
A global universal bank
Migrating operations offshore
PA assisted this universal bank to establish its global shared service centers in India and Malaysia. The aim was to centralize processes across borders and business units into a single operating model that maximized the benefits of lower cost locations, and exploited economies of scale and synergies available from converging business processes. This included both core banking processing and support functions.
PA supported the development of the operational model vision by challenging the soundness of initial proposals for shared service center locations on the basis of economic benefit, overall risk profile and operating reality.
PA developed the solution design and business case, planned and mobilized the program to deliver the solution, and played roles in implementation and managing the change. PA facilitated buy-in across the organization and within the project team, and turned the business case into reality at a practical implementation level.
Significant benefits of over $100 million per year are being delivered, far in excess of the initial business case, as further opportunities to apply the model are identified.
