Migrating card processing platforms

Following the client bank’s acquisition of a competitor, Total Systems (TSYS) was selected as the future credit card transaction processor for the combined cards business of the group. PA was asked to manage a substantial and complex change program to integrate card processing for both banks’ consumer and commercial cards portfolios onto the new TSYS platform.

PA helped the bank formulate a clear view of the future ways of working, describing an unambiguous operating model for the program. This provided a clear focus to shape and drive management decision-making and a framework for training, testing and the preparation of essential procedure manuals.

The group migrated the processing of all of its cards portfolios onto a new common platform on time and to budget.This achieved an immediate and significant cost reduction with minimal customer impact resulting from the changes, and an organization able to exploit the value opportunities of the new platform from day one. Productivity was maintained throughout the implementation, and skills were transferred to key members of the bank.
