Case study
Pulsair Tonometer
A British manufacturer of medical instruments asked PA to develop an innovative new product to expand its business. This resulted in the development of the world’s first handheld, non-contact tonometer, to measure internal eye pressure in the diagnosis of glaucoma. Initially PA carried out a feasibility study to determine the measurement technique. This led to a full technical design including the ergonomics of using the device and styling. PA then worked closely with the client’s engineers during the production engineering phase. PA also supported the design of the production calibration apparatus and supervision of the clinical trials.
