3G BTS cost evaluation

A major Western European GSM operator needed a cost assessment of UMTS FDD terminals and base stations (Node B) to support their UMTS business plan. PA developed a cost model for 3G terminals and Node B equipment, including the Bill of Materials, development costs, shipment volume forecast, production costs, IPR, profit margin etc. The assessment included multi-mode GPRS, EDGE and UMTS terminals as well as Node B variations in terms of carriers, sector and specific service mixes.
