"We must continue to develop the network, taking full advantage of developing technology and concepts. But we must remember that technology serves the human being, and not the reverse."

General Sir Mike Jackson GCB CBE DSO, Senior advisor, PA consulting group and former cgs

NECWORKS

Network Enabled Capability (NEC) and Network Centric Warfare (NCW) continue to evolve, particularly with a fresh focus on achieving more tangible outcomes. In parallel, the rate of technological improvement and innovation in the private sector seems to increase year on year, offering new opportunities and the potential of realising earlier seemingly distant aspirations.

Edited by PA Consulting Group, NECWORKS aims to bring together insight and experience in NEC and NCW from military, industry, academic and consulting authors around the globe.

RECENT EDITIONS

  • Network Enabled Capability (NEC) and Network Centric Warfare (NCW) Issue 1Issue 1 looks at the current landscape of NEC and NCW. How far have we come in their development – and more importantly, deriving benefit from them – and what are the challenges facing defence organisations and front line forces in implementing networked capabilities?
  • Network Enabled Capability (NEC) and Network Centric Warfare (NCW) Issue 2Issue 2 continues our approach of bringing together insight and experience from military, academic, industry and consulting authors around the world. In this issue we consider the founding structures of NEC and NCW: typically the technology, but also some of the assumptions made about the way the networks are procured, operated and used.
