We made it easier for IMI to manufacture valves by improving order management processes and reducing inventory by 17%

IMI, the international engineering company, designs, manufactures and services bespoke solutions that control the precise movement of fluids. Its innovative technologies enable vital processes to operate safely, cleanly, efficiently and cost effectively. With global revenue of £2.2 billion, IMI is a FTSE 100 listed group operating across 50 countries worldwide.

IMI’s Severe Service creates custom-made valves for the world’s largest petrochemical, energy, iron and steel companies. These critical application valves are highly engineered and solutions to some of the biggest challenges faced by industry today. The technical nature of IMI’s bespoke valves had resulted in a complex inventory and manufacturing process at IMI’s new factory in Czech Republic. The business needed to simplify inventory management and control processes in order to cut costs and reduce delivery time.

PA defined and implemented a streamlined approach to inventory management that reduced the inventory by 17%, improving stock availability and reducing valve delivery time. We then clarified the order management process to maximise controls while minimising costs. This included developing a concept for a tool to monitor project costs and progress more effectively, consolidating costs from various stages of the production cycle. Ultimately, our work has saved IMI money while enabling them to consistently reduce the time it takes to fulfil customer orders.
