PA have played a key role in producing a new prospectus aimed at boosting the economy across the Midlands, working in support of key regional partners. The prospectus for the Midlands Engine for Growth was launched by Rt Hon Sajid Javid, MP Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills at the University of Birmingham on 4th December.
The mission of 11 Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and their local authority and wider partners represented in the prospectus is to boost productivity, attract inward investment, increase connectivity and build a regional tourism offer. The prospectus focuses on five key themes: skills, innovation, transport, promoting the 'Engine' and finance for business. PA undertook the role of Project Manager for the prospectus which involved co-ordinating and managing the input from the local enterprise partnerships and other regional stakeholders.
The Secretary of State’s key note address was introduced by PA’s Ed Parker, Expert in Local Government and Enterprise. Ed introduced PA to the audience of over 400 business and public sector leads by explaining that for 70 years PA have been working with our clients to make the difference by translating innovation into improved productivity.
David Rees, Head of Local Government, said “PA are pleased to support the Midlands Engine. We agree with the Secretary of State when he says that we need to do more to capitalise on the Midlands' natural strengths and assets and make it an engine for growth. Through our support for this initiative, and more importantly, through the work we do for our clients in the Midlands we are determined to play our part in delivering the economic potential of the Midlands.”
