NHS Connecting for Health - Enabling a transformation in healthcare

A key aspect of this transformation is ‘telehealth’ - the delivery of healthcare remotely via electronic communication channels. It is part of a wider social movement changing the NHS from a service focused on 'sickness' to one in which patients are supported to remain well for longer.

To achieve its mission, NHS CFH needed to make telehealth possible and in 2006 commissioned PA Consulting Group. The project combined PA’s innovation, project management expertise and negotiating capabilities with the NHS’ buying-power and world-class reputation in healthcare. This partnership succeeded in persuading the formerly proprietary industry sector to embrace interoperability - thereby making telehealth possible in the UK and worldwide.
