Identifying annual procurement savings of 33 per cent with Sheffield City Council

Sheffield City Council, a UK local authority serving more than half-a-million citizens, spends around £330,000 annually on short-term hire of multiple vehicle types. The council identified an opportunity to source a new contract by eAuction.

PA worked with the council to interrogate historical demand data from three vehicle hire suppliers, create a ‘pricing matrix’ containing over 100 permutations of vehicle type and hire duration, and apply a weighting factor to each permutation within a pricing model featuring three eAuction lots.

We advised on the selection of an eAuction provider and quality-assured the creation and management of the live eAuction. With the help of one week of input from PA, the council achieved annual savings of 33 per cent over the lifetime of the new contract.
