iBus – Improving real-time vehicle location, communications and passenger information – Transport for London

PA reviewed the legacy systems and compared the technologies with their modern equivalents such as GPS and GPRS, concluding that existing systems were compromised and could not cope with fleet growth.  We conducted trials to prove and optimise the performance of the core replacement technologies for vehicle location and data communications. 

PA experts then worked as part of the TfL team on the ITT, response evaluation and supplier selection. Subsequently we provided technical support through system testing and implementation, assuring that the system met TfL’s requirements. 

Now that the new systems have been fully rolled out, Londoners can expect reliable estimates of next bus arrival, on-bus signs and announcements and overall a more dependable service.
