The Office for National Statistics (ONS) – Developing best practice business continuity and crisis management 

The ONS is responsible for the production of a wide range of economic and social statistics. The ONS requires robust, up-to-date and flexible business continuity plans at all times in order to meet statutory obligations and to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of its statistical output. The ONS asked PA Consulting Group to review its existing business continuity capability, supported them in producing an improved business continuity plan (BCP) and executed an exercise to test the BCP in accordance with a recognised standard.

PA was chosen by the ONS due to its extensive experience and track record in business continuity combined with deep sector expertise. PA developed an innovative and tailored business continuity assessment tool that helped to establish a more structured and streamlined approach to business continuity.  PA’s experience provided the ONS with an updated, best practice BCP and a significantly improved process to manage crisis situations.
