Aviva (then Norwich Union Healthcare) was on the path of a major strategic transformation, wanting to double the size of its business to £1 billion by 2011, while aggressively reducing operational costs by around 15% year-on-year.   

Previous involvement from other strategic consultants had focused on a theoretical approach that had failed to deliver real results, and PA Consulting Group was brought in to provide a pragmatic, implementation focus. 

As a result: Aviva has nearly doubled new business since 2004 (97%), total revenues are up 46%since 2005, and year-on-year savings are running ahead of targets.
