PA’s Mike Boxall, a higher education expert, is quoted in an article in the Guardian. Mike gives his view on why recruiting the right talent has never been more important for universities.
The Research Excellence Framework, which will distribute somewhere in the region of a billion pounds of government research funding, is a key factor in this drive to recruit talent. But Mike warns that the obsession with research talent may be a costly mistake for many institutions. He says: “Every university is clamouring to do the best it can out of the Research Excellence Framework and research, but it is a game that most of them will lose."
