Karen Stinson, digital and IT transformation expert at PA Consulting Group, is quoted in School Planning & Management regarding outsourcing a service rather than keeping it in-house. She lists three factors to consider when facing an outsourcing decision. 

Karen said: “Cost is one factor, but it’s not the only factor, and it shouldn’t be the most important factor.”  

Karen continued: “Bear in mind that employees are the most expensive line item on your balance sheet.”

Karen concluded that the third factor is the timeline to transform a service: “Do you have the core technology to come up to speed and enhance the service and keep on par with the industry as it changes?”
