In a recent issue of German newspaper Handelsblatt, PA’s Olaf Remmler explained how risk and return can be evaluated through PA's Energy Investment Map.
The article describes how PA surveyed the risk and return of renewable energy investments in European countries – Austria came top, with two-thirds of its energy generated from renewable sources, mainly hydro power.
Olaf predicts tightened competition for investing in such assets – incentivised by tax, credit or feed-in tariff mechanisms. However, increasing costs put a strain on consumers and governments, and the article goes on to describe the dangers of this.
According to Olaf, a potential solution is exemplified in the UK’s approach: the feed-in tariff decreases with the extension of assets but without losing sight of long-term targets.
This article also shows a table with renewable investment index scores for 14 European countries, explaining the ranges for the scores and naming the source: PA Consulting Group.
