"Companies have been attempting to reach the goals they set for carbon reduction and have found that to do so they need to look at other areas such as resourcing."

EDMOND CUNNINGHAM, SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTING, PA CONSULTING GROUP

Environment: ‘Resource efficiency’ is new mantra

PA’s Edmond Cunningham, sustainability expert, is quoted in the Financial Times Sustainable Business special report.  Edmond comments on “resource efficiency”, a concept which is gaining currency as companies start to address their impact on the environment.

Edmond says: “Organisations are looking more broadly than they did in the past. Companies have been attempting to reach the goals they set for carbon reduction and have found that to do so they need to look at other areas such as resourcing.”

Edmond believes that, as natural resources come under pressure, companies will start thinking more broadly about where exactly the environmental impact associated with their activities is occurring. He says: “There’s a massive learning curve taking place.”
