Energy Live News has reported on analysis by PA Consulting Group showing that the UK ranks sixth in the world for potential for investment in renewable energy. The ranking appears in PA’s Energy Investment Map, an online tool which rates 30 nations in Europe, Asia Pacific, the Gulf, BRICS and the US in terms of investment potential for 11 different renewable and conventional generation technologies.
The article explains that the UK’s position in the map’s renewable energy index is boosted “significantly” by its score for onshore wind and offshore wind. It quotes PA: “While wind isn’t the only low carbon generation option, it is one resource that the UK clearly has in abundance.”
The article finishes with coverage of PA’s conventional energy index. PA analysis shows that many of the top countries for investment in conventional power sources have a fast-growing demand for power as well as a regulatory regime that supports long-term contracts. India tops the ranking, followed by Poland in second place and the Philippines in third.
