Peter Wardell, PA outsourcing expert, is qouted in an article published in Digital Teknik magazine about the success of Indian outsourcing vendors.
In the article Peter outlines the results of this year´s Nordic IT outsourcing survey - carried out by Whitelane Research in collaboration with PA - which showed that companies prefer to partner with Indian outsourcing vendors.
Peter said that the one of reasons behind this preference is: “Indian companies are really good at customer management. They are dedicated to solving the customer’s problems and have a huge resource pool.” He felt another factor in their success was that “they are really good at developing new business opportunities together with customers.
The article goes on to explain that this is the second year in a row that Indian companies have performed well in the survey. It notes that TCS and Wipro are the leaders in terms of customer satisfaction in the Swedish area of the survey, followed by Accenture. Another Indian company, HCL, comes in fourth. The article highlights that Nordic companies such as Tieto, Evry and Volvo IT are ranked much lower.
Peter then outlines another reason for the Indian companies’ success: “They spend large resources on research and development. They are more innovative than competitors and make continuous improvements”. He also says that a key characteristic of the companies at the top of the ranking is that they are highly flexible.
The article concludes with the view of TCS Nordic Manager, Amit Bajaj, who thinks it is wrong to lump all of the Indian companies together as their performance varies. He feels that the three keys to being a good outsourcing company are: a decentralized model with high local autonomy and a client focus; a strong culture; and a focus on innovation.
