PA’s Erik Fagerlid is quoted in an article in Dagens Næringsliv that reviews the performance of companies operating in Norway’s grocery sector. He comments on the cooperation agreement between ICA and NorgesGruppen (which has almost 40 per cent market share), and on the Norwegian Competition Authority’s evaluation of the agreement, which is due shortly.
“There are several alternative scenarios for ICA,” says Erik. “They will get approval from the Norwegian Competition Authority and start cooperating with NorgesGruppen. Or ICA will be split up and taken over by the other grocery companies. Or they will continue to lose money a while longer.”
