Lesley points out the opportunities that can arise for staff during a merger and says that staff need to think in terms of “career resilience” and carefully examine the new internal market created by any merger.
Lesley says: “People should think of scenarios and the range of possibilities as the merger evolves, which takes time, and they need to be adaptable,” she says. “Organisations are getting better at figuring out what skills are needed for the future to create value and taking the opportunity to create a new organisation from the ashes of two old companies rather than just punching the two together.”
