PA outsourcing expert, Henrik Ringgaard Pedersen, has had a byline article published in Computerworld looking at IT outsourcing in the Nordics.
The pieces draws on PA and Whitelane’s recently published outsourcing satisfaction survey that found 40 per cent of respondents expecting to increase their outsourcing of IT – confirming the Nordics is the biggest growth market in Europe.
Henrik says: “Global suppliers are increasing their investment in resources in the Nordics with the aim of winning market share – and they are doing well. Four out of five of the best suppliers, based on client satisfaction, are Indian based.”
Henrik goes on to say that near and offshoring are popular in the Nordics with more than 75 per cent of respondents indicating they use near and/or offshoring in their delivery model of IT services. According to Henrik, the high level of client satisfaction is not only a result of mature delivery models but also of an increased level of client maturity.
Henrik adds: “The use of near and offshoring requires a certain level of client maturity. Clients can make the most of the advantages, restrain the cultural differences and deliberately choose which parts of their IT services that can be delivered elsewhere.”
According to Henrik, the most popular outsourcing providers understand their clients industry and organise themselves to accommodate their clients’ demands. Several of the Indian suppliers are establishing themselves in the Nordic countries and are truly interested in increasing the quality of their clients’ IT as well as their business value.
Henrik says: “It doesn’t necessarily make sense to focus solely on the top scorers of our survey. It’s about finding the right match in a number of areas, including culture, maturity, delivery model and governance.”
