At the edge of the abyss - or growth?

11 May 2012

PA explains CIOs’ cautious optimism about the financial crisis. Two perspectives that CIOs have on the current financial climate are ‘crisis management with an eye on opportunities’ and ‘cautious optimism’:

“This means that management and project management are being conducted in an unsteady world. Companies need to respond to changes in the organisation – changes that are currently unknown and unpredictable,” says PA

PA suggests several ways to handle this uncertainty, one being scenario-based planning, where companies make their decisions based on a number of potential scenarios.

“The crucial question is not whether an organisation should plan in relation to being at the edge of the abyss or growth but how they should build the best possible capacity to relate to both extremities”.
