In a byline in Berlingske Tidende, the Danish national daily newspaper, Frank Madsen, PA management expert, explains how businesses can thrive in the ‘zombie economy’. This refers to the post-recession ‘half-alive’ state of banks, government, business and consumers across the EU. Frank also refers to PA’s 2011 ‘Managing Uncertainty’ survey, which demonstrated that the companies that focused only on keeping costs down did worse than companies that pursued the opportunities of the financial crisis.
Frank says: “Winners responded faster to the crisis and were ready with comprehensive scenario-based plans, understanding how these would affect the business. The losers, on the contrary, remained passive.” He adds that the winners will be the ones who are well prepared and ready to face up to the challenges and opportunities that come along with a financial crisis.
