Martin Smith appointed Group Head of the Technology and Healthcare Group (THG) at PA Consulting
PA Consulting Group, the leading international management, systems and technology consultancy, has appointed Martin Smith as successor to Alec MacAndrew, who retires in July 2008. As the new Head of PA’s Healthcare & Technology Group, Martin will build on his seven years’ experience as Senior Partner, and ten years’ experience as a Member of PA’s Management Group.
Graduating in Geophysical Science from Southampton University, Martin’s early career was spent in Energy, IT and Finance, before joining PA in 1998. PA assignments include devising and implementing major outsourcing, performance improvement, customer service improvement and global supply change management strategies, most recently as head of PA’s Manufacturing practice.
Martin has already worked extensively with PA THG personnel on joint projects and sales activities. In taking up his new position he will oversee the activities of several hundred personnel, most of whom are based at the company’s 3,000+ sq ft Cambridge Technology Centre in the UK with its engineering, machine tool and rapid prototyping facilities, and wireless laboratory.
In heading up this already successful and profitable part of PA, one of Martin’s key aims will be to strengthen PA’s brand presence and sales base across its diverse areas of expertise - business strategy, process improvement and the development of novel technology - with a major focus on the pharmaceutical, biotech, manufacturing, FMCG and wireless technology industry worldwide.
