ProcServe, a leading provider of procurement and marketplace connectivity solutions, today announced that their service for the UK public sector, Zanzibar, won outright in the category for Operational Performance at this year’s Management Consultancies Association (MCA) Management Awards. The winners were announced at a gala dinner on 28th April 2008 in London.
Zanzibar is the UK public sector electronic marketplace delivered by ProcServe under a framework agreement managed by OGCbuying.solutions. By bringing together government contracts in a single platform, Zanzibar enables collaboration across all public sector buying organisations and provides access to the best pricing and transaction-ready suppliers.
This programme was originally started to create an electronic marketplace for all public sector buyers and their suppliers, and to transform public sector procurement to improve efficiency and quality of work. Zanzibar has already achieved tremendous success and is being used by a number of UK public sector organisations including the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the NHS, the Bank of England and other Central and Civil Government departments. The target users of Zanzibar included local and national public sector bodies – from primary schools to central government departments, varying greatly in size, function and management structures – as well as thousands of suppliers of varying sizes.
Robert Knapman, Director of eCommerce, OGCbuying.solutions, said:
“We are delighted that ProcServe and OGCbuying.solutions won in this category. The team have worked hard to deliver this groundbreaking service, so this is a fantastic accolade to have been awarded for all the hard work.”
Veera Johnson, CEO, ProcServe said:
“The MCA’s recognition of the quality and value of ProcServe’s partnership with the UK public sector in providing a pan government marketplace is enormously important to ProcServe. This result is a testimony that the Zanzibar is a world-class procurement programme, well on the way to being a benchmark for other governments.”
