PA Consulting Group and EON Solutions Africa to exhibit at African Utility Week conference and deliver speech on 'Managing resource constraints'

PA Consulting Group and EON Solutions Africa have been selected to give a presentation at African Utility Week 2006, the largest utility and power event on the continent. The conference, which takes place on 8-12 May, 2006, will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Cape Town, South Africa. PA is also an exhibitor at the event, and can be found at booth 704.
Ignacio Rodriguez, a member of PA Consulting Group’s management team, and Paul Ben-Israel, a principal consultant at EON, will give the speech, titled 'Using LIRP to effectively manage resource constraints'. The presentation will discuss how local integrated resource planning (LIRP) can be utilized to assist countries in Southern Africa which are facing a shortage of electricity, generation capacity, and supply, to immediately and effectively address many of the factors contributing to an impending energy crisis, and optimize options for supply and demand.
Presentation attendees will receive tangible insights into how LIRP (a tool to assist the optimization of capital and maintenance expenditure on network infrastructure), can be used to address resource constraints in a more granular, bottom-up manner. These can include lack of generation capacity and insufficient investment in transmission and distribution infrastructure. The presenters will consider areas such as micro/distributed generation possibilities, focused local DSM programs, and other more targeted initiatives.
The presentation will take place on Wednesday 10 May from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
