PA Consulting Group identifies the technical implementation challenges for Push-to-Talk (PTT) - Paper at IBC conference, London, 7 September, 2004.

05 September 2004
Jurgen Wittkopp from PA Consulting Group - the leading international management, systems and technology consulting firm - will examine the impact and options arising from the introduction of ‘walkie-talkie’ services in GSM and UMTS networks in a paper to be given (midday) at IBC’s Push-to-Talk conference, at One Whitehill Place, London on 7 September 2004.
Jurgen, who heads PA’s Value Added Services group in Wireless Technology, will bring some objectivity to the ongoing debate about PTT as ‘the next big thing’ in the mobile industry, by drawing on 13 years’ experience managing wireless projects for suppliers, operators and investors covering GSM, UMTS and fixed broadband networks.
The session is likely to be of particular value to product or technology strategists facing decisions on product viability and when to launch. PA's paper will:
- assess the practicalities of launching PTT at a time when standards are still open
- consider key design and deployment issues
- examine what can be done to trade-off the implementation of a non-standard solution against the desire to minimize time-to-market
PA Consulting Group’s wireless technology expertise includes network and system design and evaluation, radio network dimensioning and planning, cost modeling, technology comparisons, product benchmarking and due diligence, as well as service and product development for wireless operators and equipment suppliers.
