PA Consulting Group, the leading international management, systems and technology consultancy, has received a prestigious WorldStar packaging award in the Beverage category - recognized at Interpak, Düsseldorf, Germany on 27 April 2002 - for its innovative design of Evian's Action Pack.
WPO (World Packaging Organization) WorldStar Awards are given to the 'best of the best', as all entrants must have previously received other industry awards. They recognize a globally high standard of new technologies and processes along with design excellence in packaging.
PA's Action pack was designed to be a 'lifestyle accessory' with looks which would differentiate it on a crowded product shelf. The pack combines an easy-carry ring top and (leak proof) drinking spout with a distinctive, easy-to-grip spring-back bottle shape.
The judges examined the various technical, marketing, logistics and environmental aspects of each package, the rationale behind design and the cost aspect before voting on submissions from over 25 countries.
Mike Paton, Head of PA's design group at its Cambridge Technology Centre, comments:
"Our ability to create a new pack with 'consumer appeal' (innovative design features) which maintains strong brand values, to rapidly prototype it and speed the process to volume production can give a brand significant market lead - as happened with Evian.
We are proud to receive this award in recognition of the packaging advances the Evian Action pack has made."
