PA Consulting Group's Product and Process Engineering Practice achieves ISO 9001 registration - 11 August 1999

PA Consulting Group, the management, systems and technology consultancy, announced today that its Cambridge-based Product and Process Engineering practice has achieved ISO 9001 registration. The scope of this registration also includes ‘TickIT’, a DTI initiative defining the use of ISO9001 for software development.

PA’s Product and Process Engineering practice specialises in technology innovation, product development and process engineering in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, food, FMCG, and manufacturing sectors. The practice began work on developing a formal quality system eighteen months ago, in response to its clients’ increasing need for demonstrable quality standards.

ISO 9001 is an international standard that sets out a generic model for quality assurance of design, development and production processes. Its use is widespread throughout the UK, Europe, USA and the rest of the World - including Japan. Independent accredited bodies assess compliance with the standard: the level of compliance demonstrated at the initial assessment is used as a baseline and there is then a requirement to demonstrate continuous improvement at subsequent six-monthly surveillance visits.

DTI's Quality Assurance in Software approval, 'TickIT' is the interpretation of ISO9001 for quality assurance in IT software.
