Of the 89 companies in the world that currently achieve a top-level 'five' rating in the software quality model, the ‘Capability maturity model’ (CMM), 62 outsource to India at present. In an interview by the Asian news channel ‘Star World’ Tim Catling from PA talks about the advantages and disadvantages as well as the legislative and economic implications of outsourcing in today’s globally competitive world.
Tim discusses the growing trend of large companies outsourcing to India and other Eastern countries in response to the high labour prices in the West. These Asian countries benefit economically from the extra employment opportunities while Western companies profit from a large number of educated, English speaking workers for a fraction of the price.
