From airports

Newark International Airport
(16.4 miles, approximate travel time 45 minutes)

From the Terminal Building, start out going North on Brewster Road by turning right. Turn a slight left to take the ramp towards the NJ Turnpike. Merge onto the Newark International Airport exit. Take the I-78 ramp then merge onto I-78 E. Take the I-95 North/NJ Turnpike North exit and merge onto I-95 N. Take the Route 3 exit, number 16E, towards the Lincoln Tunnel and merge onto I-495 E. Take the exit on the left towards 40th Street and North West Side Highway. Merge onto Dyer Avenue. Turn right onto West 40th Street then left onto 3rd Avenue. Turn left onto East 43rd Street. Turn left onto Lexington Avenue and the Chrysler Building.

JFK International Airport
(17.4 miles, approximate travel time 40 minutes)

Follow the exit signs from the Terminal Building for the Van Wyck Expressway. Follow the Expressway for 8.3 miles. Take the I-495 West exit, number 12B and merge onto the Long Island Expressway (LIE). After 6.2 miles the LIE becomes the I-495 W. Go through the Midtown Tunnel. Take the 37th Street exit towards 38-40th Streets. Merge onto Tunnel Exit Street. Turn left onto East 39th Street then turn right onto 3rd Avenue. Turn left onto East 43rd Street. Turn left onto Lexington Avenue and the Chrysler Building.

La Guardia Airport
(8.1 miles, approximate travel time 20 minutes)

Follow the exit signs from the terminal Building and take the Parkway West ramp towards Manhattan. Merge onto Grand Central Parkway West. Take the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway exit, number 4, towards the Verrazano Narrows bridge (I-278 West). Merge onto the Brooklyn Queens Expressway East. Take the I-278 West exit and merge onto the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. Take the I-495/Long Island Expressway exit, number 35, towards midtown Tunnel/Eastern Long Island/Greenpoint Avenue. Merge onto the Long Island Expressway (LIE). The LIE becomes I-495 W. Take the 37th Street exit towards 38-40th Streets. Go through the Midtown Tunnel and merge onto the Tunnel Exit Street. Turn left onto East 39th Street then right onto 3rd Avenue. Turn left onto East 43rd Street. Turn left onto Lexington Avenue and the Chrysler Building.

Grand Central Station

Grand Central Station is right next door to the Chrysler Building so it is not necessary to take a taxi or drive from the station.

Penn Station

Start out going Northeast on 8th Avenue towards West 31st Street by turning left. Turn right onto West 34th Street. Turn left onto 3rd Avenue. Turn left onto East 43rd Street. Turn left onto Lexington Avenue and the Chrysler Building.

The financial district - Wall Street
(5.2 miles, approximate travel time 12 minutes)

Start out going Southeast on Wall Street towards Broad Street by turning left. Turn left onto Water Street. Water Street becomes Pearl. Take the FDR Drive North Ramp. Merge onto FDR Drive North. Take exit number 8, towards East 34th Street (I-495) Midtown Tunnel. Stay straight to go onto Marginal Street. Marginal Street becomes FDR Drive Service Road East. Turn left onto East 34th Street. Stay straight to go onto East 34th Street. Turn right onto 3rd Avenue then turn left onto East 43rd Street. Turn left onto Lexington Avenue and the Chrysler Building.

From airports

Note: using public transport from any of the airports is not recommended.

Newark International Airport
(approximately 1.5 hours)

From the Terminal Building follow the signs for the bus service. There is a direct bus service from Newark Airport to Penn Station. On arrival at Penn Station take Subway train 1, 2, 3 or 9 (red) uptown one stop to Times Square, 42nd Street. Transfer to the S (black) train which takes you directly to 42nd Street, Grand Central Station. Follow the signs in the Subway Station for the Chrysler Building which will take you directly into the lobby of the building.

JFK International Airport
(approximately 2,5 hours)

From the Terminal Building follow the signs for the bus marked 'Subway'. Take the Port Authority Shuttle Bus through the airports long-term parking lots to the Howard Beach Subway station. Take the A train (blue) to Cortland Street. Transfer to the 4, 5 or 6 (green) train and travel uptown to 42nd Street, Grand Central Station. Follow the signs in the Subway Station for the Chrysler Building which will take you directly into the lobby of the building.

La Guardia Airport
(approximately 1.5 hours)

From the Terminal Building take the Q-33 city bus (asking the driver for a transfer ticket). At Roosevelt Avenue in Queens transfer to the Subway station. Take the 7 train (purple) to 42nd Street, Grand Central Station. Follow the signs in the Subway Station for the Chrysler Building which will take you directly into the lobby of the building.

From train stations

Grand Central Station
Services from the Bronx, Westchester, Putnam and Duchess Counties and Connecticut arrive into Grand Central Terminal at Lexington Avenue and 42nd Street. Follow the exit signs to Lexington Avenue and the Chrysler Building.

Penn Station
Services from Long Island, Trenton, New York and the New Jersey coastline arrive into Penn Station at 7th Avenue and 33rd Street. Follow the directions for the Subway. Take Subway train 1, 2, 3 or 9 (red) uptown one stop to Times Square, 42nd Street. Transfer to the S (black) train which takes you directly to 42nd Street, Grand Central Station. Follow the signs in the Subway Station for the Chrysler Building which will take you directly into the lobby of the building.

By bus

The following North/South route buses stop at the Chrysler Building: M98, M101, M102 and M104. The 42 East/West route bus also stops at the Chrysler Building.

By subway

Routes 4 and 5 (the Lexington Avenue Express), route 6 (the Lexington Avenue Local), route 7 (42nd Street Flushing Line) and route S (the 42nd Street Shuttle) all stop at Grand Central Station. Follow the signs in the Subway station to the basement of the Chrysler Building.

Parking

The closest parking garage is on East 43rd Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue.
