Tim Lawrence, head of supply chain and procurement at PA Consulting Group, has been quoted in an article in the Financial Times special report, ‘The environment and intellectual property’. The article looks at how, if governments are serious about fulfilling the promises they made at the Copenhagen climate change conference, much more investment into green technology will be required. The article also looks at how customers are increasingly expecting their suppliers to have environmental programmes.
In the article Tim Lawrence points to a survey PA Consulting Group undertook with large organisations about their green agenda. Half of those organisations surveyed had invested less than €1m ($1.2m) in the past two years, equating to less than 0.1 per cent of their turnover.
Tim commented: “The same is true for the level of investment over the next couple of years, with only minor increases planned,” he says. “Whatever the reason, it is clear that the environmental awareness and intentions of companies are not being translated into action.”
