The Danish government is investing billions of Danish kroner in IT systems for 16 new hospitals. The investment is the largest ever made in healthcare IT and aims to digitalise Danish hospitals, thus improving patient treatment.
PA’s healthcare specialist, Mikkel Podenphant, suggests that the investments should focus on the development of common IT systems with improved usability and cost-effectiveness: “It is essential to develop common IT systems […] ensuring common goals and solutions. The development is at such a speed that usage and profit-taking should be in focus. At the same time we need more flexibility in order to adjust the IT systems to [seize] the new opportunities that arise in […] patient treatment and technologies.”
