Care gaps and funding gaps

PA’s Steve Carefull, healthcare expert, has had a comment published on BBC Health News Online. The article looks at the social care systems and how we can better care for elderly or frail people who wish to remain in their homes.

Steve comments on  the Commission on Funding of Care and Support report, ‘Fairer Funding for All’, known as Dilnot: “Change will not take place just through Dilnot. Commissioners and providers need to change behaviours, pool budgets and engage with clients in new ways. Only through system change will £3bn of funding be redirected from acute to social care. Political leadership is imperative. Politicians must discuss the shortcomings of the current system openly and promote change.”
