HeForShe Whitehall

HeForShe is a campaign that encourages men to take action against the negative inequalities women face. This UN Women’s initiative drives gender equality as a human rights issue – not just a woman’s issue. We joined forces with the Cabinet Office Gender Equality Group and Foreign Commonwealth Office Women to kickstart a discussion around tackling gender inequality.

‘What women want and what men can do’ emerged from a conversation by former PA colleague, Hattie Davison, and Chair of UN Women in the UK, Laura Haynes. They decided to set up an event that discussed what men can and should be doing about gender equality. The event drew in a crowd of over 300 civil servants and the panel featured people from the very top of the civil service, UN Women and diplomatic world. Held at the Foreign Office, the event allowed everyone to understand the prejudice in our society and recognise where we can have an impact.
