PA helps life sciences companies to establish the strategic direction of their technology platforms and market entry strategies. This help includes implementing new business models, developing governance structures and defining new and standardised R&D pathways.
Given the geographic spread of many clients’ labs and the numbers of projects in therapeutic areas, aligning project and line management issues and goals can be extremely taxing for even the best run outfits. So PA has helped to define best practice approaches to project management of projects, with clear roles and responsibilities, as a basis for career development and individual performance management.
We have world-class capabilities in strategic resource planning, programme and project management, and strategic sourcing (supporting collaboration with CROs and third parties). To embed the solutions we devise, PA can deploy a wide range of culture, change, and people management skills and experience both from within the sector and from best-of-breed solutions elsewhere.
Here are some examples of PA's recent track record:
Portfolio-project-resource management
We helped a rapidly growing clinical development organisation of a biotech company define the project and resource management capabilities required for future success, as well as develop a plan for the implementation.
Outsourcing strategy and management
We helped a biotech company develop a consistent sourcing strategy, agreed across all R&D functions, which enabled it to strengthen its core capabilities and to outsource and manage less critical capabilities.

Commercial evaluation of a drug in development
We evaluated the market potential of the client’s product scheduled to be released in 2009 and developed a competitive landscape for the future, which included a market assessment, financial analysis (NPV), pricing evaluation and commercial strategy assessment. Based on this assessment the client decided to stop development and saved millions of dollars.

Therapeutic area strategy
For a newly acquired drug (in clinical trials) in a therapeutic area that the client was not familiar, PA developed a product strategy that provided a clear vision of the business opportunity, requirements for success and in-depth competitive intelligence. We helped the client develop strategic options to position and commercialise their products.
