Delivering a program for cleaner production
USAID engaged PA and the Centro de Promoción de Tecnologias Sostenibles (CPTS, a local NGO) to deliver cleaner production and environmental management in Bolivia. This project helped Bolivian government bodies and industries to improve their environmental performance and control, which in turn will help the country meet its future trade agreement requirements.

PA conducted cleaner production audits and follow-up programs, developed a strategy to extend financing for cleaner technology, provided policy and institutional strengthening support, and contributed to information and outreach campaigns. In addition, we provided technical assistance to the cities of La Paz, Tarija and Sucre to establish environmental management systems based on sound environmental policies, and put in place management procedures for solid waste, water and wastewater. PA also worked with the services and industrial sectors and NGOs of these municipalities to introduce cleaner production practices in these sectors.
