Infrastructure services

"PA took on the challenge of reforming a company that many felt was impossible to turnaround. We consider the UEDC reform to be the most important energy programme success to date."

Alexander Khetaguri, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Fuel and Energy of Georgia

Providing infrastructure services to developing countries

PA Consulting Group is a global leader providing infrastructure services to developing countries. The growing gap in the quality of infrastructure between advanced economies and developing nations imposes a serious productivity penalty and a harsh social penalty. PA’s team is dedicated to closing that gap.

PA is committed to providing dependable energy in emerging markets

Energy is critical to economic development and social equity. In the world's poorest countries, about two billion people live without access to modern forms of energy. Even when power is available, poor reliability can reduce GDP growth by 1 to 2 full percentage points. PA offers the following services to improve the quality of electricity:

  • Energy sector reform

  • Corporate restructuring and commercialisation

  • Energy efficiency and demand side management

  • Rural and renewable energy

PA is committed to expanding access to clean, dependable water and wastewater

Water is life. An adequate supply of clean water for drinking, cooking and personal needs is a necessity, not a luxury and basic sanitation services are essential to public health and safety Historically, water was viewed as an infinite and infinitely renewable resource.  But today more than a billion people do not have access to good drinking water – mostly in rural areas – and 40% of the world’s population does not have access to basic sanitation, according to the World Health Organisation.

Compounding this problem is the increasing use of groundwater for agricultural irrigation. This has helped increase agricultural output in many countries, but it has also led to the depletion of underground aquifers and the wasteful consumption of water.

PA is committed to providing solutions to the water crisis that is currently underway through the following services:

  • Agricultural demand side management

  • Water resources

  • Water efficiency

  • Water policy and regulatory reform
