We will explore the practicalities and the case for increasing the prevalence of patient-centric eHealthcare. Ingredients needed for a patient-centric eHealthcare revolution that delivers consumers with improved access to more personalized and cost-effective care, exist.
Smartphones and mobile-apps are already bringing health and wellness-related offerings to consumers and with many devices being priced within the discretionary spend of consumers, the momentum of change has extended beyond that created by HCPs and payers.
Additionally, some devices that integrate medical device technology and mobile-apps are already FDA-approved. And the Affordable Care Act has shifted the focus from corrective to preventive. Nevertheless examples of commercial eHealthcare solutions are limited, especially when compared to advances in consumer connectivity.
